Introduction

With the new Snip, WM technics is introducing a manual ice edger at FSB 2025 in Cologne (Hall 9, Stand E028) that elevates functionality, safety, and design to a new level. Developed for operators of ice rinks of all sizes, the Snip impresses with precision, robustness, and a range of unique technical features.

Ice Edger

Bolzano/Cologne – WM technics is known in the world of ice maintenance for their innovations in driverless ice resurfacing technology. However, at their innovation hub in Bolzano, they understand that certain tasks still require manual workforce. For example, on mobile ice rinks, where large ice resurfacing machines with their automatic ice edgers cannot operate. Does this mean sacrificing new technologies and sophisticated designs? Not at all—as demonstrated by WM technics’ new Snip manual ice edger.

The heart of the Snip is its tool-free switching between two operating modes—a market innovation. Users can seamlessly switch between classic lateral edging directly at the boards and frontal milling of ice mounds. This makes the Snip a versatile tool that efficiently processes not only the edge areas but also uneven surfaces on the ice.

A robust, sound-insulated stainless-steel hood ensures safety and durability, protecting the machine while allowing for quiet operation. An innovative blade holder prevents the milling blades from breaking during collisions with metal or concrete—a crucial advantage for safe and uninterrupted operation.

Customer Service

Powered by a high-performance DC motor with a 24V/130Ah battery, the Snip operates electrically and is therefore emission-free. A special feature is the drive wheel equipped with spikes, which automatically presses the machine gently against the boards, allowing for precise guidance along the rink perimeter. With 12 blades on a 352-mm disc, the Snip delivers a fine cutting pattern with a continuously adjustable planing depth from +10 mm to -8 mm.

Technology

Practical details such as LED work lights, a mechanical depth indicator, a support wheel for easy maneuvering, and an intuitive operating concept complete the package. The Snip is type-approved and thus meets the highest safety standards.
